Leaves it all behind

A poet with no voice

(You're feeling something, tell me what it is)
(It hurts, it hurts to be me)

You've always been on the move
And with your back against the wall
Trying everything to fill that cleft
No one will deny you gave it all
But now you have nothing left

It was not always like this
While you could, you were relentless
When you could, you had joy
With time, the maze became endless
And drove you to the void

You carried them all the way
Ensured none would be left behind
The journey proved to be too hard
You still have a lot, any of this to bind?
Would they carry you too? Or discard?

Your acts of kindness and love
Were never what they asked for
Still you insisted to feed the dove
The more they ate, you gave'em more
Love is an act of goodness, my dear
But it is also an act of blood
Beware to whom you give your cheer
Or all you'll receive is mud

Do you still feel you've got any to prove?
Why are you still looking to the past
Without looking to your shoulders?
You walk against the wind, seize the blast
And let go of all these boulders

In order to be ready for the bliss
It requires a clean soul
With many daggers plunged into you
Like a river your blood will flow
You search for someone to blame, but who?

The answer's been inside your mind
A hidden truth you refused to accept
The pain is vicious, but still a sign
You're to blame for all you've kept

Your acts of kindness and love
Were never what they asked for
Still you insisted to feed the dove
The more they ate, you gave'em more
Love is an act of goodness, my dear
But it is also an act of blood
Beware to whom you give your cheer
Or all you'll receive is mud

(And what do I do now?)
(What do you do? You learn to let go)

Red roses, they can prettify
But they won't flourish by chance
The old leaves, fallen from the trees
They will feed your ground, not make it dense
For the remains, the wind takes care of these

Despite all that made you cry
And you drowned under your tears
It's time for you to embrace the new
Renew yourself, change your gears
And place the past where it should

It doesn't mean you will forget
By getting those thoughts out of your mind
But if you want to be ready and set
You have to leave it all behind

Your acts of kindness and love
Were never what they asked for
Still, you insisted to feed the dove
The more they ate, you gave'em more
Love is an act of goodness, my dear
But it is also an act of blood
Beware to whom you give your cheer
Or all you'll receive is mud

(One on the move is one who leaves)
(Leaves? Where to?)
(Leaves it all behind)
