Does the brain steer the ship or the heart take control
Between the head and the chest who grabs the soul
Confusion circling like planets round a star
In the chaos of the cosmos who we really are
When you start to ponder which holds more sway
Do the thoughts direct the dance or emotions lead the way
A tug of war inside between the cortex and the pulse
Who drives the human machine the brain or the impulse
The body calls the shots when the mind ain’t lookin'
The mind plots the moves when the heart ain’t shaken
Who’s the puppet master pulling all the strings
Does the body rule the mind or the mind rule the body?
In the dark of night who whispers in your ear
Is it logic's cold voice or the pounding of your fear
When you reach a crossroads which path will you choose
Do you follow gut feeling or the thoughts you can't lose
Echoes of thoughts and a rhythm in the chest
Tangled threads we weave inside an endless quest
Hunting for answers in a maze with no end
Does the matter fold or does thought transcend
