Before you, I had a life
And I didn't know it was about to change
I didn't know your name
And I didn't know what it meant to miss you this way
Then came the days that seemed to never end
The plans we made without thinking of when
The need to build something side by side
And the feeling that maybe this could survive
We believed in the future
As if believing could make it come true
And for a while it was beautiful
Not because it was perfect
But because it was true
Every story has an end
Every road must reach somewhere
Some people stay forever
Some stay as long as they can there
And if one day you are not here
That won't make what happened disappear
Because who we were together
Is also who I became forever
Every story has an end
But not every ending erases what we lived
Time changed everything
It changed our plans
It changed our needs
And changed the way we understood what love could be
We kept on trying
Even when we no longer knew how to stay
Sometimes love was still beside us
But life no longer fit the same way
There wasn't one single night when everything was gone
It happened little by little, moving on
In conversations we kept for another day
In silences that had more than words to say
Until we understood that maybe loving someone
And being able to keep living beside them
Were no longer the same thing
Every story has an end
Every road must reach somewhere

To give a meaning to what we lived forever
Maybe some stories come to change who we are
Maybe some people teach us how to feel from the heart
And maybe letting go is also understanding

And it had an ending
But it was real
